The Russian Kyokushin Karate website has announced the fighters nominations for 2007. After consideration of all victories, Anzor Schichabachov was announced the best fighter for the last year The nomination „For the willpower in scoring the victory“ went to Vasilyi Chudiakov who demonstrated the limits of the human potential and wonders of willpower in the World Championship in Japan. On November 2nd, Makoto Taniguchi became the 2008 All Japan open champion by defeating Zahari Damyanov from Bulgaria in the final. Makoto went on attack form the start, attacking Zahari\'s left leg aggresively with gedan mawashii geris. Zahari\'s left leg appeared injured and he attempted to evade Makoto's kicks, but it wasn't enough as Makoto worked hard with explosive hand and leg combinations to win by decision in one round.
